The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Updates Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Accounts A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
